2016: Mabelle Addition

From the time we bought 814 Mabelle St. we had thoughts about removing the small addition on the north side of the house and putting something slightly better there in order to:

    • Get a nicer kitchen (the existing kitchen really needed a remodel)
    • Have space for a dining room
    • Have a nicer master bedroom with a master bath

We started thinking about it more seriously in 2012 when the a local construction company stopped by looking to drum up some work. We had some tentative plans drawn up which really weren't what we were thinking which motivated David to start drawing 3D models of the house in SketchUp. We eventually had Valerie Shillberg draw up some plans for a two-story addition that fit our ideas better, but when we started talking to contractors and got a quote for doing the construction it sounded like the two-story idea might not be the best approach. Finally, we floated the idea of a single-story addition and got a third set of plans drawn up which really seemed like the right direction to go in... so we're doing it!
